Forest
02:41
|
|||
I am the jet stream skies
I am the storm-bent tree
I am the wind that whispers quivers
To all gentle things
I am volcanic rise
I am tectonic rock
I am the depths of all the ocean
In a falling drop
I am nothing but this humble heart
Made up of all these broken parts
I am a world unearthed
I am the unsung words
I am the dying fireside embers
Of forgotten verse
I am the unlived dream
I am renewing spring
I am the gift of all beginnings
That forgiveness brings
I am nothing but this humble heart
Made up of all these broken parts
To love, its only mortal art
To love you
For all, all
For all
I am nothing but this humble heart
Made up of all these broken parts
To love: it's only mortal art
To love you
For all you are

Fragile Victories
03:14
|
|||
I sleep so far on the left
As if you're right beside me
The covers drape upon the floor
'Cause you're not here to fight me for them
You're not here to fight me
Drops of blue blossom covered the garden
I couldn't say why but I had to let them
Just to see them rise in waves of glory
In triumphant, fragile victories
And I can forget you not
I can forget you not
I'm still laying out that dress
As if you might invite me
The flicker of the candle flame
The only one left dancing for us
The only one left dancing
Swirls of soft cotton
Senses unbuttoned
Our plans tailor-made
Unpicked to frays
In these weary hands
Tender, holding
The ragged threads of knowing
That I can forget you not
I can forget you not
I can forget you not

Other Side
03:40
|
|||
Our last morning passed
Like dew drops on a web
Holding on to fragile threads
On to something too beautiful
To always be visible
By the day's end
And I watched as that rain fell
On the plane window
And I knew that I couldn't cry
'Til that last hour came
And I'd landed home again
And you were on
The other side
Of the world
And you were on
The other side
Of the world
The world
And our last morning passed
Like dew drops on a web
Holding on to fragile threads
And now the nights have begun
To guard the fading sun
Jealous of its gentle rays
And how something can touch your skin
In spite of all the space between
And lighten up your face
So I watch as the hourglass
Fills the empty time to pass
While you are on
The other side
Espero que estés seguro
Te quiero cerca de mí
Tu voz es mi único médico
Cuando no puedes estar aquí
And you are on
The other side
Of the world
The world

Less Broken
03:21
|
|||
You looked a little older
Than when I'd seen you last
The seconds seemed to slow
After the years was gone so fast
I noticed that your ring had gone
And the pendant from your neck
As you were sitting in the corner
Of the bookstore where we met
That gentle kind of melting
As I stood before you frozen
Your ice-blue eyes skimming
Through the book that you had chosen
And I wanted to tell you
That it would have a better ending
The last page would have answers
And she wouldn't be kept waiting
Like I was
Hold me again
Just for the moment
I will love you again
Like an old romance
Then we can let it go
Like we did before
A little less broken
Or, maybe, more
I'd seen something a while back
That I knew would make you laugh
Funny, I couldn't start to share it
When we'd finally crossed paths
It had been a while since I had seen you
Looking so relaxed
I couldn't start to spook you
With a spectre from the past
But I couldn't help but notice
The lines across your face
That had only been a thought before
Time gave them their place
And I wasn't afraid
To see that you had aged
I was only scared to find
That some things
Just don't change
Hold me again
Just for the moment
I will love you again
Like an old romance
Then we can let it go
Like we did before
A little less broken
Or, maybe, more
Maybe
Maybe

Third Sea
02:51
|
|||
This is the Third Sea
It parts its waves for distant lovers
This is the Third Sea
It carries them to safer shores
Because the Third Sea
Knows what it is to be forgotten
And the Third Sea
Just wants to feel it is first choice
The Third Sea
Has ripped up boats and thrown them to the island
The Third Sea
Has torn shipmates from their bottles for their sins
But the Third Sea
It never meant to be so violent
It's just what the Third Sea
Thought it took for love to win
Here I am, living on this island
Surrounded by the Third Sea's tender blue
It calls to me
To dive into this ocean
It calls to me
To find my way to
The Third Sea
How can I know it will look upon me kindly
Or will the Third Sea
Spit me out with relics in the foam
Because the Third Sea's
Tides are still stirring undecided
Because the Third Sea
Needs to know I am worthy of its home
Here I am, living in this silence
Surrounded by the sirens' tender tunes
And they call to me
To dive into this ocean
And they call to me
To find my way to
The Third Sea
Into the Third Sea
Into the Third Sea

Barriers
04:16
|
|||
I'm still sweeping up the fragments
Of my former sense of self
But I'm glad that it has shattered
Into fractures of the shell
That held all I thought I couldn't be
And all I thought I was
A hardness that protected me
But a softness that was lost
I am leaving this false refuge behind
I have come to lay the pages
That have carried broken lines
I might return a thousand times
But the door will be left open
And the key less hard to find
As the barriers start falling
Falling apart
From this heart
I'm still nurturing resistance
As it rises in its waves
And spirals in its visits
Until it finds its resting place
In loving arms
That thought they couldn't hold
But somehow found a way
To hold darkness like an infant
And bring lightness
To that space
I have come to know
The demons of the night
They have come to bring me answers
To questions pushed aside
I know they might return
A thousand times
But each morning will be brighter
As each answer brings more light
And the barriers start falling
Falling apart
From this heart
From this heart

Painting Colours
03:45
|
|||
It's not that I'm scared of going alone
I've been there and I've seen the view
I've climbed mountains, crossed shores
And sang to the moon
Walked in the cold 'til my fingers turned blue
Got lost in the city, found in the ruins
Knelt in the temples and prayed for the truth
But nothing
Nothing has meaning
Without you
I watched the silent sunset
And I thought
Of being silent with you
The night came cast in silver
And I wished
You were there to share the moon
And each time my breath was taken away
My heart was taken to
Where you are
I take a photograph
Before it starts to fade
Before this lone horizon
Starts to turn to grey
And I paint colours with the words you say
That, maybe, you'll be here one day
Cause it's not that I'm scared of going alone
I've been there and I've seen the view
I swam down to the waterfall
And I saw
How it was falling for you
I'd found an oasis
But alone
It's just another shade of blue
And each time I drew
A map in the sand
It would lead me back to
Where you are
I try to drink it in
Before it drifts away
Before this perfect mirage
Starts to turn to grey
I paint colours with the words you say
That, maybe
You'll be here one day
Cause it's not that I'm scared of going alone
I've been there and I've seen the view
I've climbed mountains, crossed shores
And sang to the moon
Walked in the cold 'til my fingers turned blue
Got lost in the city, found in the ruins
Knelt in the temples and prayed for the truth
But nothing
Nothing has meaning
Without you
Without you

Old Kind of Love
03:17
|
|||
There's an old violin
That rests beneath my chin
Worn out by the minor key
And the music keeps playing
When you come around
But there is no sound to hear
Cause we both know
How to play
In that old composition
We both know
How to slip
Into those old positions
So I'm closing that anthem
To write a new sheet
With a new kind of rhythm
And a new kind of beat
This time I will play conductor
And you will take a seat
Cause it's an old kind of love that
I don't care to repeat
Please don't get me wrong
I'd never mean you any harm
But you must accept in this moment
I'm taking back what's mine
There's an old photograph
A token from the past
Resting on the mantlepiece
And the beauty of that night
Is framed in full sight
For fading memories
Cause we both know
How to smile and pose
For that old camera
We both know
What the lens would never
Dare to capture
So I'm closing that album
To find a new scene
In a new destination
With a new kind of theme
This time I will take the photographs
And you will take your leave
Cause it's an old kind of love that
I don't care to repeat
Please don't get me wrong
I know you didn't mean any harm
But you must accept in this moment
I'm taking back what's mine
What's mine
There's an old kind of love
A memory of what was
And how things used to be
Let's not go back to perpetuating past
And repainting history

Travelling
04:45
|
|||
We'll pack all the essentials
And leave the rest behind
And with our bags strapped on our shoulders
We'll know we've got all we need to get by
So we'll go to the temple
To kneel before the gods
We'll ask them: is life so simple
And they'll tell us that it's not
So we'll go up to the mountain
And look at the world below
And we'll realise that life is so small
And we've got so far to go
And the morning bells will chime
And echo in our ears
And we'll learn to clear our mind of all thoughts
And we'll learn to just be there
And I can't wait to go travelling with you
Yeah I can't wait to go travelling with you

Autumn's Approaching
02:58
|
|||
Autumn's approaching
And it always brings
Memories caught in the wind
Autumn's approaching
Do you remember the ring?
Where the stones spelt love
You said the opal might shrink
But our love could only grow
Silent Sun
Illuminate the moonlight
You reflect in all of me
But you're out of sight
Oh, let go
As autumn's approaching
The questions remain
Of all I should have asked
When I still had chance
'Cause there's so much left to know
Silent Sun
Illuminate the moonlight
You reflect in all of me
But you're out of sight
Or too bright
For my eyes to see
That autumn's approaching
You're still in my dreams
Where I saw you last
When the leaves were still green

Through Clouds
03:18
|
|||
As we drove through the clouds
Higher than we dared to notice
We couldn't see what lay ahead for us
We were drifting between mist and moments
And the fog of our future
Helped us make the present clear
As we caught glimpses of hilltops
And we tried our best to steer
And stay away from the edge
Keep it under control
As we drove across the ice
Making snow tracks in the cold
And we knew that it would melt
And we knew you'd have to go
So my head's still in the clouds
And my heart's lost in the snow
We climbed down to that waterfall
To watch it in full flow
And marvel at all the icicles
Still hanging on like precious stones
And the waterhole had frozen
And in that moment so had our time
So we could walk on water
And we could lose our minds
And stay away from the edge
Keep it under control
As we drove across the ice
Making snow tracks in the cold
And we knew that it would melt
And we knew I'd have to go
So my head's still in the clouds
And my heart's lost in the snow
